Précis cf Piracies committo: by bias bay Firates 1926.

(1) S.. Jale., Shun Cheung 5.5.0c. 6 Connaught Road central, 2nd

ficer, running between Hafplcns, Arong Chau Wan and cngkong, was

pirated on the 8th February 1926, 6 hours cut frem Kwong Chau Wan

on her way to Hongkong. She is a cargo ship, and was carrying

100 tons general cargo, and bullien valued $62,900. There were

10 3rd Class passedyera. Seven of these were the pirates. They

took the ship to Bias Bay and arrived off Fan Le Kong at 10 a.E.

on the 10th February. The ship was taken right up the creek,

were it was in 34 fathers of water, and about 500 yards from the

shore. The pirates called 2 sampans which teek eff all the

pirates and the bullion. The pirates bearied the ship at Kwong

Chay Wan.

(2) S.S. lisin Keng. China Merchants S.M.Co., was pirated on the

journey from Shanghai tc Centon, when she was near Swatow on the

25th March, 1926. The pirates took the ship to Bias Bay and

transferred ashore cargo and lect from the passengers by means of

a beat which was lying in readiness at an arranged spe. (South

China Morning Post 1.4.26) Hongkong Police have no report or

details of this piracy).

(3) Steam Launch Tai Yau. H.M.S. Durban reports 7.3.26 as follows:-

*Lei Ping Sun, 45 years, Captain of the Steam Leunch Tai Yau,

Tonnage 122 tons, owned by the Chiusan Co., Swatow, states:On the

6th March 1926, I sailed from Tai San Li about 6 p.m. with 47

passengers and about 80 baskets of salt fish as cargo. When leav-

ing Tai Sam hi, 6 Chinese Wales, whe had bearded the ship before

leaving as passengers, protuced revolvers and seized the ship. They

tied up myself, Compradore & Chief Officer and then ransacked the

ship, taking all the money from the passengers, They took the

ship to Fan Lo Kong, (near glass factory), where they left at

about 7 a.m., today, 7th Larch, taking all the money and some

clothing with them. When leaving they told us to leave at once

and go full speed or other pirates would catch us. I have never

seen any of these won before and could not recognies them again".
